About us

Welcome to Kitchen 69 -a joint venture between my husband and I.  We are both foodies, we love to eat and thankfully I love cooking and growing produce in my suburban veggie patch. I have a few staples but will try my hand at growing or for that matter cooking anything. And my husband is a video junkie - so here we are, we decided to collaborate to bring together our interests and passion, and want to share them with anyone who is interested in food.

You may be wondering why the name Kitchen 69? The numbers are inspired by the ancient Chinese symbol for the yin and yang. For us it represents various things, the coming together of us, our cultures (he is Armenian and I am Indian), the old and the new and the fusion of different cooking styles and cuisines etc. There is also the connotation of naughtiness that goes with these numbers, and it is always good to see the lighter side of life - even in the kitchen or garden.

My aim for this blog is to share my recipes, food videos and photos of my kitchen garden to highlight how easy cooking your own meals and growing your own produce can be. I am not saying that there is no effort involved. Like everything in life that is of any value, cooking and growing produce requires skill and effort, but is extremely rewarding.  Also, you don’t have to do everything at once, start slow with a couple of things and build your repertoire. And the satisfaction you will receive form harvesting your own chilies,  herbs or eggplants or cooking for your loved ones and friends is worth every minute spent weeding or slaving away over a curry on a hot day.
